Compo | Competition Finalist | New york, New York | 2019
Compo is a series of walls which are arranged and layered to frame views on either side of Roosevelt Island. Unique to this project is the collaboration between Studio Ames a company called ByFusion, who are the manufacturers of a new innovative technology behind the main building block of our project. Compo is made of recycled plastics (type 3 through 7) which have, until now, not been able to be reintegrated back into consumer market.
Studio Ames’ design celebrates the material of the blocks as a way of bringing awareness to the plastics that we use and discard on a daily basis. In this way, we hope to inspire a more thoughtful environment in which we think about the plastics that lack a closed loop life-cycle and cause harm to our environment. ByFusion’s contribution comes at a point in the company’s growth, as this pavilion will be the first of its kind in the United States.
